‘Twas a time long, long ago when rock ‘n’ roll was a dangerous outlet for the fringes of society. Well, the good old days are back again. Witness Skull Time; a fiery Milwaukee ensemble that bridges the Stooges to the White Stripes on this self-titled collection as they ply their lewd, crude, bone-crunching craft with a low down, dirty groove. Little is known about this fearsome five-some (there are no online bios, or reviews, though we did discover that their name was recently changed from Wolfbite). Whatever the case, SK’s brand of garage rock is timeless, steeped in mutated blues riffs and a pounding back-beat. “Talk About It” which features a cold-as-ice co-vocal with Ms. Typhoid Patsy commences with a power chord pattern straight from the book of Judas Priest. The blitzkrieg riffage of “Birthquake” perfectly punctuates the ongoing battle between the vocals and drums - which is never resolved. For hedonists, look no further that “Sexy Fancy” to get your mojo risin’. Volatile, visceral, rebellious, and aggressive, SK is highly recommended for followers of the Go, Super Suckers, Zen Guerilla, Jet, and Mooney Suzuki.
