MYRACLE BRAH

CAN YOU HEAR THE MYRACLE BRAH?

RAINBOW QUARTZ

Finally, after many tries, Andy Bopp manages to hit it out of the park once again with Can You Hear The Myracle Brah?, which is definitely the most consistently winning album he’s managed since MB’s 1998 debut, Life on Planet Eartsnop. Bopp goes the solo route this time out (save for some able drumming from Starbelly’s Greg Schroeder and a background vocalist), fashioning a consistently tuneful record that alternates between snappy little ditties (“Best Friend,” “Hurry Now”), balls-to-the-wall pseudo-anthems (“Big Kids Wanna Rock,” which sounds too damned close to a Bryan Adams song title for comfort), instantly memorable jangle-pop (“No More Words,” “Big Mistake”) and a few hypnotically slower ones such as the majestic “Run to the Voices,” which ends with plenty of passionate Bopp guitar soloing. So yeah, it rocks, it pops, and it’s even got some acoustic numbers that are pretty damned swell, too. All in all, a fine return to form.
