Gorgeous chamber pop is the order the day for Lindsay Anderson’s debut album. Anderson cut her teeth with elegiac post-rock outfit L’altra and can be proud of the three albums the band released with her participation. On If, Anderson does not stray too far from what she does well - lilting melodies enveloped with sophisticated arrangements and ornate instrumentation...not to mention her mellifluous voice. Heavenly to the ears (phones are a must), songs like “Sterope,” “Fear,” “Sweetness and Light” and the title track would not sound out of place on a film score. Atmospheric, ephemeral and delicate, these tracks twist and turn like feathers, shimmering in the night sky. A truly beautiful debut.
