On the debut EP from this Northern California quartet, singer/guitarist Seth Roberts presents a handful of songs inspired by love. Written largely about the woman who would become his wife, Photographs is a gloriously melodic effort that expresses Roberts’ wide-eyed sentimentality in soaring choruses, driving pop-rock instrumentation, and inspired lyrics. “Indian Lover” pairs feelings of unconditional love with gracious melodies that recall Toad the Wet Sprocket. “Photographs” pictures a couple growing old together, and in “White Flag,” Roberts sings about letting go, while ultimately finding what matters. A beautiful love letter, Photographs ultimately succeeds in spreading Roberts’ good fortune in wonderful song.
