ACID HOUSE KINGS

DO WHAT YOU WANNA DO EP

TWENTYSEVEN

Released on Valentine's Day, this EP single from Sweden's best pop music export since Abba collects two songs from last year's impressive Sing Along with Acid House Kings plus four previously unavailable b-sides. Included exclusively on the US version is the band's enthusiastic cover of Loveninjas' "Keep Your Love," which takes the rather twee stylings of the original recording and gives it a more sophisticated Pet Sounds-like arrangement over a driving Motown backbeat. However, it's singer Julia Lannerheim's "Come Josephine" that steals the spotlight here. The way she can reflect both cool detachment and aching heartache all within the space of a few lines is a truly wonderful thing to listen to. Not for the faint of heart, Acid House Kings make serious pop music for grown-ups cool again.
