HONEY, I'D KILL...

CLAY GARDENS/PLANTING SEEDS (06/12/07)

Honey, I'd Kill... is the debut album from Norfolk, VA's 1888. The nucleus of the group is comprised of Brad Rosenberg, Bobby Rangel, and Daniel Driskell, who balance songwriting, performance, and production. The trio continued along the path of self-sustenance by recording and mastering at Clay Garden Studios, which they own and operate. Honey, I’d Kill… fluctuates between delicate indie ballads (“Son So”) and twangy-clean rock n roll tunes (“Will it Hurts”), sometimes combining both. Subtle but well-crafted melodies are complimented by enticing hooks, the end result leaving a nostalgic sort of optimism lingering in the earlobes. And, as is the stamp of time-tested solid albums, Honey, I’d Kill… lends new sounds previously unnoticed or viewed in a new light each time it plays, getting better with every spin. Fans of Wilco, Grizzly Bear, and the like - this one's well worth adding to the summer list.
