Keep it real....and publishable!

I feel like I've heard this song before. Maybe it's because the mish-mash of strings, samples, insipid faux-soul vocals, and out of context jibberish sound like every other record from, oh, about 2003. By the time the 12th repetition of the chorus comes around I could more than stop moving -- I could fall asleep.

This is a great sounding track -- sort of sounds like if the Odelay era Beck got his mitts on some of the late 60s Motown discs and worked his magic on it. It has some of the same sound collage layering that Beck and the Dust Brothers used to favor. There's a great lite soul vibe to this track, and I'm definitely interested in hearing more....

Man, this track smokes! At the risk of sounding sentimental, it harkens back to an era of when pop music was integrated - think AM Radio circa 1971. The horn blasts nearly knocked me outta my ergonomically correct desk chair. Strong melody, and vocals reminiscent of a young Diana Ross and young Michael Jackson (aren’t they the same person?). Take off that space suit Sonny J, let’s see who you really are! I’m buying this record.

Dig it, especially good Friday afternoon fare, get the party started….This is the track where the guests are just starting to arrive, it simmers, you're not trying to turn the mutha out, just start the vibe cooking, it's where the boil begins.

It's got a warm soul vibe that falls somewhere between The Go! Team and Fatboy Slim. Dancing to this is inevitable. It's perfect for the massive upcoming holiday party you're going to overcrowd your apartment for.

I think it has potential to be a great sounding sample. I can definitely hear sections & cuts of this track that would be great for rocking a dance floor at a club. I love the big Motown voices & the upbeat disco-ish energy. However, I think there's bit too much repetition and not enough expansion of where the sound can and should go. In that sense, the song is overly long because the same 4-to-8 bards of strings & horn plays over and over again, without enough variation. That being said, there is a bit of potential here, if just for putting together danceable samples.
