Red House Painters – “Have You Forgotten
This is a great record hands down. This is such a great nostalgic song; it can take anyone back to their childhood.
Bill Withers – “Ain't No Sunshine
This guy nailed this one right on the head...so true, so true.
The Gloria Record – “Salvation Army
Chris Simpson knows how to write a great lyric and lay it over beautiful instrumentation. This song is a good example.
Pedro The Lion – “Secret of the Easy Yoke
I've always really been into Pedro. This song came along when I was sorting out my religious beliefs. David Bazan is very honest and I really respect him for that.
Wilco – “Reservations
Another great record. Another great song.
Sigur Ros – “Starlafur
Without sounding trite, this band creates songs that are the soundtrack to my life. Things just seem much more beautiful when their songs are playing. I want this song in my wedding.
Casey Reid – “I See the End
Best songwriter that ever lived. Period.
Azure Ray – “Rise
These two ladies have won over my heart with their angelic voices. I constantly listen to them while on tour lying in the back of the van.
Bright Eyes – “Amy in the White Dress
This is a good b-side. Very, very sad, but a story very well told.
Denison Witmer – “Los Angeles
This record played a big part in my college years and I still really enjoy it.
Nick Drake – “Which Will
I can put on any Nick Drake song when I get behind the wheel for a long drive and I disappear for a while.
Coldplay – “I'll See You Soon
Another good b-side. This is a great song to give to your lady the day you leave for tour for two months....not that I've ever done it.
Sunny Day Real Estate – “Guitar and Video Games
A friend made me get this record in high school. I'm very glad that I did. I wish this band was still around.
Weezer – “Only in Dreams
The fact that I really liked this song in 8th grade and I still think it is a great song at age 25 means something...I think.
