RUSSELL LEETCH (EDITORS)

MIX CD OF FAVORITE TUNES.

Midlake – “Roscoe
I love the sound of The Trials of Van Occupanther. It’s a fantastic record; this song builds in an incredibly subtle way.

Mobius Band – “Starts Off With a Bang
This is off the City Vs Country EP and all the songs on it are supreme. We toured the US with them and they were the best bunch of crack heads in the world.

Neu! – “Hallogallo
I’ve only recently discovered this group but can see their influence through lots of bands that I grew up listening to.

Pixies - “Hey
I saw them last year for the first time and I will never forget it. I’m so glad they reformed as I would not have fully understood why they are so good.

Radiohead – “Where I End and You Begin
As a bassist I often get asked which bassist I like; there aren’t a lot really, apart from Colin out of Radiohead. This is a fine example of rhythm at its best.

Richard Hawley – “Can You Hear the Rain, Love?
This is taken off Late Night Final which is my personal favourite of Mr Hawley’s albums. He was working in a studio and after band’s sessions he would work on his own material through the night. Everything is played by himself and it is truly majestic.

Johnny Cash – “God’s Gunna Cut You Down
I think all the ‘American’ recordings are very unique and special, showing simplicity can achieve wonderous things.

The National – “All the Wine
Alligator blew my mind. I bought 5 copies of the LP and gave them to my friends at home, and they all could not stop listening to it. I think it’s a remarkable album and can’t wait for their future recordings.

Guillemots – “Made Up Love Song No. 43
There is a real genius in the song writing; Fyfe has a special talent. Every time I play the track I pick up on more and more in the music and the vocal delivery.

Terris – “Deliverance
A forgotten UK band. They were hyped unbelievably in the press and it was a downfall for them. This track stands up and is menacing.

Cold War Kids - “Hang Me Up to Dry
This is my favourite new band; I’ve had a sneaky copy of the album for a while and everyone’s in for a treat.

Sparklehorse – “It’s a Wonderful Life
If anyone makes this into a mix tape it’s a great closer.
