UNICYCLE LOVES YOU

1.) What is your first musical memory?

Adam - My sister and I singing with our Donny and Marie Magic Microphones.

Jim - That really weird peanut butter and jelly song that references jelly being made out of squished worms or something. We sang it in preschool. It kinda fucked me up for life.

Nicole - I was probably about 2 years old, and my mother would stand at the edge of the bed, holding my hands for support, while I would be half naked, dancing around to Madonna. This was when we were both at our hottest, in '86. I still do this, without my mother, of course

2.) What was the first album you owned?

Adam - Some 8-track that had disco versions of the themes to Star Wars and Superman.

Jim - Bon Jovi "Slippery When Wet"

Nicole - It was a cassette of NKOTB. Danny Wood was my favorite,
by the way. Can you tell I'm a product of the '80's or what?

3.) Were you not a musician, what would your profession be?

Adam - Chicago Alderman

Jim - Re-animator

Nicole - Mortician

4.) What song do you wish you had written?

Adam - "If I Was Your Girlfriend" - Prince

Jim - "Dead Flowers" - The Rolling Stones

Nicole - "Star Witness" - Neko Case

5.) What was the first concert you attended?

Adam - INXS w/ PIL at Radio City Music Hall

Jim - Van Hagar w/ Vince Neil at Orange County Speedway, NY. Also the first time I smelled pot.

Nicole - NKOTB!! It was my birthday present when I turned 6, I think. I got to stay up until midnight and wear my favorite neon spandex.

6.) What three bands or artists, dead or alive, would be part of your ultimate one-night concert performance?

Adam - Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus (minus Yoko Ono, plus Peaches)

Jim - The Byrds (circa 1968), XTC (circa 1979), Cibo Matto (circa 1996)

Nicole - David Bowie (Ziggy), Talking Heads (Remain In Light), Madonna (Like a Virgin)

7.) What instrument would you like to play, that you currently cannot?

Adam - Pedal steel

Jim - Banjo

Nicole - Drums

8.) With whom would you like to collaborate?

Adam - t.A.T.u. Wait...what? They're not real lesbians?!? Fuck that. OK, I change my answer to Daft Punk.

Jim - Ariel Pink

Nicole - Beach House

9.) Which one of your songs would you put in a time capsule?

Adam - "Dangerous Decade" - This was the first track I recorded my parts for in the studio. When I finished it felt like when I lost my virginity. Especially with the strange bearded man on the other side of the glass giving me directions through the headphones. Good times.

Jim - "Hawaii!"

Nicole - "Hawaii!"

10.) What one album can you not live without?

Adam - Getz/Gilberto

Jim - Many many, but this time I pick Nico - Chelsea Girl.

Nicole - The Who - Quadrophenia

11.) Who was your first pop star romantic crush/fantasy?

Adam - Blondie

Jim - Olivia Newton John performing "Physical" on Solid Gold. I was 4.

Nicole - Well, you already know about Danny Wood, but at the time, I was also crushing on Garry Shandling, if you can believe it. What can I say? He made me laugh.
