What is your first musical memory?
ABBY: Probably practicing scales on the upright Baldwin we had in my house as a kid.
AMANDA: I remember falling asleep in front of a drum kit during a concert at my parent's friend’s house. They always said I could sleep anywhere.
What was the first album you owned?
ABBY: Michael Jackson's Thriller.
AMANDA: It was a disco Disney record that had "Macho Macho Duck" on it. I loved that song.
Were you not a musician, what would your profession be?
ABBY: I'm not a professional anything.
AMANDA: I'd probably go into craft services.
What song do you wish you had written, and why?
ABBY: So many of Jesca Hoop’s songs because it would be great to hear what she hears in her head.
AMANDA: Yeah, Jesca's song "Phonograph." It makes me cry every time I hear it, it's so beautiful.
What was the first concert you attended?
ABBY: Wyton Marsalis.
AMANDA: My mom Ruth Barrett's concert.
Who would be in your ultimate three-band, live performance lineup, dead or alive?
AMANDA/ABBY: Joni Mitchell would open the show, Kermit the Frog would do a song and dance second, and Cher would close the show with 12 costume changes.
What instrument would you like to play, that you currently cannot?
ABBY: I would like to be a better piano player and learn how to play my Charango.
AMANDA: Piano, harp or hammer dulcimer...Banjo too.
With whom would you like to collaborate?
ABBY: I’m not so good at collaboration.
AMANDA: Ms.Hoop
Which one of your songs would you put in a time capsule?
ABBY: I would put them all out in the world and I will go in the time capsule.
AMANDA: A song on an early demo called "UFO."
What album can you not live without?
ABBY: I really love Where's the Money? - Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks.
AMANDA: Ruth Barrett and Cynthia Smith's Deepening album.
What was your first pop star romantic crush/fantasy?
ABBY: I don't have crushes on people that I don't know.
AMANDA: One that stands out is a major crush on Beck that started in 1996 when I saw his picture in the paper. The crush lasted quite a few years and led me to be pretty intrigued by his music.
