What is your first musical memory?
My first musical memory is of a record that my Mum used to play. It was a country and Western record called Friends. It had singers like Don Williams, Glen Campbell and Emmylou Harris. I was so thrilled when my mum gave me the record a few years ago.

What was the first album you owned?
I can't remember... I think it was probably Sade - Stronger Than Pride.

Were you not a musician, what would your profession be?
Probably a fashion designer. I studied fashion design, textiles and embroidery. Passed my B-Tec Diploma. I was gonna go on to do a degree but failed to get into the college, so went on to make gowns for ballroom dancers. I then quit after a few months and bought myself a guitar. I still like making clothes. I made the skirt that I'm wearing on the CD cover.

What song do you wish you had written?
I'd like to have written "Summertime" by George Gershwin...or "The Girl From Ipanema." Two songs I really love to sing.

What was the first concert you attended?
It was a band called D-Influence at a venue in South London called "The Fridge." My friend’s father ran a few nights there so I would always be in there.

Who would be in your ultimate three-band, live performance lineup, dead or alive?
On vocals and piano I would have Nina Simone, Dave Gilmour on guitar and vocals and myself as back up. I could not miss out on an opportunity to perform with these two legends! Ha Ha.

What instrument would you like to play, that you currently cannot?
Cello. I love the sound of this instrument. I'll buy one and get lessons one day!

With whom would you like to collaborate?
A guy called Conrad Lambert aka Merz. He as a very unique voice, great melodies and lyrics. I love his latest album called Love Heart.

Which one of your songs would you put in a time capsule?
"Tell Me About Your Day." This song is very descriptive of my day spent in New Orleans when I was on tour with Morcheeba back in 1998.

What album can you not live without?
Right now it's the Merz, Love Heart album. When I listen to his songs, it makes me take a deep breath. It's like they help me to breathe. ;o)

Who was your first pop star romantic crush/fantasy?
Ad-Rock from the Beastie Boys. Yep I had the VW sign. But I didn't steal it from a car tho, my dad sent off one.
