What is your first musical memory?
"Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" on the radio in the kitchen when I was having breakfast with my grandfather. I think I was about three and remember thinking that it sounded quite exciting.
What was the first album you owned?
I think it was Elvis sings For Kids... And Grown-Ups Too!
Were you not a musician, what would your profession be?
I would probably be unemployed. I don't have any other skills or qualifications and I was expelled from school when I was 17.
What song do you wish you had written, and why?
"Look At The Boy" by Jean Plum; it's the sexiest thing I’ve ever heard.
What was the first concert you attended?
I was a late starter when it came to gigs. My first was David Byrne at the Glasgow Barrowlands when he had the big Latin band.
Who would be in your ultimate three-band, live performance lineup,
dead or alive?
Rodan, Jimi Hendrix and Dusty Springfield.
What instrument would you like to play, that you currently cannot?
I've been meaning to take piano lessons for a while...
With whom would you like to collaborate?
I'd love to do a duet with Gladys Knight, but I doubt she'd be into it.
Which one of your songs would you put in a time capsule?
I honestly don't know. Perhaps "Come Round And Love Me" from The Last Romance because it's a beautiful memory.
What album can you not live without?
I've listened to Dusty In Memphis about forty times on the tour, and Slint's Spiderland still makes me feel exactly the way it did when I first heard it. I don't think I could narrow the choice down to one record, though.
What was your first pop star romantic crush/fantasy?
I was very in love with Belinda Carlisle when she did the Heaven On Earth album.
