BEN BRIDWELL OF BAND OF HORSES

What is your first musical memory?
My folks partied with other neighborhood parents at our house all the time when I was a kid. We kept our doors open and went to bed most nights with music playing loudly. There was always so much music, that its impossible to name a first one. I always liked the Rolling Stones and Otis Redding.

What was the first album you owned?
The free 7 about Big Mac burger sandwiches from a restaurant. Drummer Creighton swears that MaryLou Retton sang it.

Were you not a musician, what would your profession be?
I’d probably be a bartender or something really easy. Nothing with too many hours or requiring any skill or meaningful purpose probably.

What song do you wish you had written, and why?
“Guitarzan!

What was the first concert you attended?
Four Tops, Temptations, O’Jays, and Levert. I was pretty little. Gerald Levert made me laugh when he danced.

Who would be in your ultimate three-band, live performance lineup, dead or alive?
I like the dudes I play with. Jamming with other people would be strange. I wouldn’t wanna play anything I wrote and I’m awful at “jamming. (Ed. Note: Don’t think Ben understood that question.)

What instrument would you like to play, that you currently cannot?
Pedal steel guitar.

With whom would you like to collaborate?
Bill Clinton.

Which one of your songs would you put in a time capsule?
“The Day I Lost My Dingle On The Red Line. Mat wrote that one though.

What album can you not live without?
The one without food and water in it.

Who was your first pop star romantic crush/fantasy?
I liked Alyssa Milano first I think. Somehow I liked Jo from Facts of Life too. Gay?
